Peking to Paris 2010
Tim Scott successfully completed the Peking to Paris 2007 Rally in his beloved 1903 60hp Mercedes, the oldest car to ever take part in the Rally. Wanting a challenge to at least commensurate 2007 he is participating in the Peking to Paris 2010 Rally on his 8hp
1923 FN motorcycle – alone.
Why Peking to Paris 2010?
Upon arrival in Paris at the end of the 2007 Peking to Paris Rally a number of my fellow participants were declaring their commitments to the more Southerly journey, over the historic Silk Route being proposed for 2010.
Me? I had absolutely no intention of repeating what had been an adventure and a great experience. I had ticked the box. I had successfully driven all the way from Peking to Paris in the oldest car ever to do it; the Mercedes being four years older than even the original cars of 1907. Read more about the 2007 Rally
As 2009 drew towards it’s evening my thoughts turned to what was going to be a milestone birthday – my 60th in March 2010. I didn’t want a party to ‘celebrate’ this but also wanted to achieve something to mark the occasion… my thoughts turned to the 2010 Rally. How could this be commensurate with the challenge of 2007?
Participating on an 8hp, four cylinder, inline air-cooled FN solo…
sounded like a real adventure!
